HOW IRM’S TRAINING COURSES MAP TO VERSION 3 OF THE BABOK®

The International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA®) is the publisher of the BABOK® Guide, a globally recognised standard for the practice of business analysis.

The core content of the BABOK® is a collection of many of the most common business analysis tasks. These tasks are logically grouped into 6 Knowledge Areas:

  • Business Analysis  Planning & Monitoring
  • Elicitation & Collaboration
  • Requirements Life Cycle Management
  • Strategy Analysis
  • Requirements Analysis & Design Definition
  • Solution Evaluation

These Knowledge Areas are underpinned by:

  • Business Analysis Key Concepts
  • Underlying Competencies
  • Techniques
  • Perspectives

The BABOK® V3 is just over 500 pages long and contains a wealth of information – much more material than could be covered in any training course. Instead most training companies (including IRM) focus on training in Competencies and Techniques – skills which lend themselves to a learn-by-doing approach.

The Competencies and Techniques covered in IRM courses are a selection from the many available, but a selection based on many years of training experience and course feedback from customers.

The following IRM courses are endorsed by the International Institute of Business Analysis as being compliant with BABOK® V3:
