What is the Training Like?

IRM Training’s Business Analyst courses are workshop-style practical training. Most modules start with a trainer running a presentation interactively, followed by discussions and case-study-based exercises.

The courses run in small groups so there is plenty of opportunity for questions and discussions. For questions that are not directly related to the course topics, the trainer(s) may schedule a time during one of the breaks to answer them, to ensure your questions are answered while keeping the course on track.

Each IRM Training’s Business Analyst course covers a different set of BABOK® techniques and goes in-depth into how to apply these techniques to solve real-life business problems. They conform to the BABOK® but delves much deeper and focuses on the application of the techniques, rather than the theory.

Who Are the Trainers?

Eligibility requirements to become an IRM Training trainer:

  • A minimum of 15 years’ business analysis experience in Australia.
  • The ability to demonstrate in-depth knowledge in the real-world application of the course topics.

  • Excellent communication, presentation and people skills.
  • A good sense of humour! You can absorb and retain more knowledge when the training is fun!

IRM Training trainers have worked in / with a diverse range of industries and government departments. Some also came from academic background as lecturers at Australian leading universities, on top of their 15+ years’ hands-on experience.

FAQ

What is the class size of your Business Analyst courses?

Business Analyst courses by IRM Training are limited to 12 places to ensure maximum instructor to attendee interaction. The attendees are often split into groups to complete exercises which helps business analysts learn from others in their team.

Where do you train?

Just about anywhere! Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Brisbane are the main centres for our public courses. We run in-house courses anywhere in Australia, and overseas.

From 2020 you can also attend the courses remotely. Find out more from the Practical Training Delivered Remotely (Live) page.

Are your courses hands-on?

All of our business analyst courses are workshops. This means that much of the time (typically around 50% but it can be more) is spent on practical work. Of this, some is individual work but most of it is done in small teams. These courses are designed to maximise the learning curve, and this is usually achieved by a mix of activities – quizzes, demonstrations, examples, discussion, simulations, teamwork.

I am not a BA. Are the courses suitable for me?

Many different roles perform business analysis tasks. Whether you are a Business Analyst, Project Manager, Agile BA, Product Owner, Process Analyst, Business Intelligence Analyst, Manager / Team Leader, or any other similar roles, you most likely need to solve business analysis problems related to people, process or data.

About IRM Training

First established in 1989, IRM Training is one of the most experienced providers of Business Analyst courses. With some of the most knowledgeable trainers in Australia, we provide plenty of practical experience which we are able to pass on through our courses.
